Please join with us in signing this petition in support of Jim Romano remaining the head coach of the Girls Varsity Basketball Team.   There is a movement underway to remove him as the head coach. We need to demonstrate our support for Coach Romano so that the school board and the Superintendent understand the critical role he plays in our community – please act now (NOTE TO ALL ALUMNI and/or RESIDENTS and/or CURRENT STUDENTS INCLUDE YOUR GRADUATION YEAR AFTER YOUR LAST NAME).

Coach Romano has coached the Lady Drakes for 41 Years.  And while his success as a coach is unparalleled in school history (which includes the 2018 Class A State Championship, an undefeated 2020 season at 29-0, the 2017-2018 USA Today Womens’ NATIONAL Coach of the Year Award, and 729 wins to name just a few of his accomplishments), it’s his role as a mentor to the young women in the Jenkintown school district that makes him a critical member of our community.  

Coach Romano has positively impacted hundreds if not thousands of student athletes’ lives during his tenure.  He instills the values of hard work, dedication, selflessness, and perseverance.  He goes above and beyond the roll of a coach, and over the years has had a lasting positive influence on his players.  The testimonials from former players about Coach Romano being there for them during difficult times (trouble at home or in school) are countless.  Coach Romano requires hard work, commitment, and focus from his players.  The benefits of Coach Romano's leadership style and basketball experience are invaluable for those who want to engage in this extracurricular activity.

729-365 coaching record. 16 Bicentennial League titles, 18 PIAA District 1 Class A titles, 4 PIAA Class A Final Four appearances, 2021 PIAA Class A Runner-Up and punctuated by his 2018 PIAA Class A State Championship! Not to forget the 2019-20 – Undefeated Season (29-0) when the season was abruptly ended due to Covid.

In addition, Coach Romano has won: 12 Bicentennial League Coach of the Year Awards, 2017-2018 USA Today Womens’ NATIONAL Coach of the Year Award, 2017-2018 & 2018-2019 PA Sportswriters Womens’ Class A Coach of the Year Award. 2010 Jenkintown Hall of Fame Inductee. 2018 Montgomery County Coaches Hall of Fame Inductee.
