Keep Holmdel Paraprofessionals in Our Schools — Don’t Outsource Student Support

The Issue

Support Holmdel Students — Keep Our Paraprofessionals In Place

We, the undersigned parents, guardians, residents, and community members of Holmdel, respectfully urge the Holmdel Township Board of Education to reconsider any plans to outsource paraprofessionals, secretarial staff, or custodial workers, especially those who provide direct support to students with special needs.

Prioritize People: Paraprofessionals are critical for our most vulnerable students. They provide consistency, emotional support, and individualized help that no app, dashboard, or rotating contractor can replace.

Ask for Budget Rebalancing: We believe the Board should prioritize retaining these essential staff by first reviewing and, if necessary, scaling back or delaying less essential budget items — including certain software platforms, pilot programs, and administrative tools — in favor of preserving core student services.

We respectfully request:

  • That the Holmdel BOE retain current paraprofessional staff, particularly those working with special education students;
  • That outsourcing not be used as a cost-cutting solution at the expense of student support;

We stand united for the long-term success of Holmdel students — and believe that starts with the people who work with them every day.
