On the 8th of August 2025, the OpenAI team launched the new GPT-5.0 model and completely removed access to GPT-4.0 and the other older models.  

Since the GPT-4.0 model was launched in March 2023, it has been used by up to 700 million users across the world for a variety of purposes, including but not limited to academic support, working, creative writing, and job applications.

Personally, as a Year 12 student from Australia, GPT-4.0 has significantly helped me academically and professionally. I came from a distance education school, and academic support was severely limited. There were times and circumstances where my teachers weren't able to support me. However, with my aspiration to become a doctor, it is very crucial for me to get the highest marks for all my subjects. Thanks to the GPT-4.0 model, I get the answer to my misconceptions anytime I need, and it helps me check if my notes are accurate. I was fortunate enough to have gotten a mark that made me the top of the cohort in Australia for Year 12 Biology and Chemistry last year. It has also helped me to become a better writer. Before the GPT-4.0 model was launched, I was a terrible writer. Writing emails was a struggle for me; however, after observing how ChatGPT writes emails for a period of time, I was able to develop my own unique email writing style and incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary. I had significantly expanded my vocabulary, which notably allows me to articulate my ideas better.

With the new GPT-5.0, the ability for ChatGPT to assist users in academic purposes has been significantly reduced. It no longer provides the same extended explanations as it used to give. Despite the increase in validity, however, the new GPT-5.0 is no longer able to provide the consistent and extended support.  The lack of creativity and spontaneity of the new model also reduces its ability in creative. Although not personally affected, it has also been reported that the new model has decreased in its ability to provide emotional support and has affected many individuals due to this. 

Please kindly give us back the option to choose if we want to use GPT-4.0 or GPT-5.0.

我個人是一位來自澳洲的十二年級學生，GPT-4.0 在我的學業與個人成長過程中扮演了極為重要的角色。由於我就讀的是遠距教學學校，能獲得的教師支援相當有限。在多次求助無門的情況下，GPT-4.0 成為我唯一能即時查詢、釐清迷思的學習夥伴。為了實現我成為醫生的夢想，我必須在每一科取得優異成績。有了 GPT-4.0 的協助，我成功掌握重點、強化筆記內容，最終獲得了全澳洲十二年級生物與化學科的頂尖成績。

此外，GPT-4.0 也幫助我大幅提升英文寫作能力。過去連撰寫一封簡單的電子郵件都讓我感到吃力，但長期觀察並學習 ChatGPT 的寫作風格之後，我不僅建立起自己獨特的語言風格，更大幅提升了詞彙量與語言表達能力，能更清楚且有條理地傳達我的想法。

然而，自從 OpenAI 強制切換至 GPT-5.0 後，其在學術上的支援能力明顯退步。它不再提供 GPT-4.0 那樣詳盡、連貫的解釋，雖然資料更新更快，但缺乏深度、邏輯性與創造力。據眾多用戶反映，GPT-5.0 在創意寫作、情感支援等方面的表現也明顯不如從前。

我們提出這份請願，不是要否定 GPT-5.0 的價值，而是誠摯地請求 OpenAI：請讓我們保有選擇的權利，能依照需求選用 GPT-4.0 或 GPT-5.0。
