Keep Giant Tiger at Donald and Ellice in Winnipeg
The Issue
Giant Tiger says it is closing on November 7, 2026!
This is the only affordable store in downtown Winnipeg for fresh foods, clothing, shoes, bedding, household goods, tobacco, and other necessities. If you need a parka for $25, or school supplies at a good price - this is the place to go. Winnipeg is a city that likes a bargain!
This will affect the 65,000 + people who live downtown. And, more people are being encouraged to live downtown - so this number will increase.
In our neighbourhood, many people do not own cars. They walk. This store is the only one in walking distance for many seniors, people with disabilities, and people who live on fixed incomes in the area. It's difficult and expensive to go to big box stores.
We need to let Premier Wab Kinew, and Minister of Business Jamie Moses, as well as area MLA Uzoma Asagwara know about this concern.
