Thanks for signing this Petition!

March 2026 Update: UF has not yet cut down these Surge-Area trees, but they are still planning to.  They submitted plans to the St. Johns River Water Management District for approval, and did so before getting all required UF committee approvals, thereby bypassing a major oversight check from the public.  But you can still comment to the SJRWMD by going to this link (find the "Comments" button), and review the application documents yourself.  If you do submit a comment, or are an expert who can help evaluate these plans scientifically for a stronger opposition argument, please let us know.

Secondly, in case you have not heard, UF is proposing an even bigger tree destruction project on campus, one which would eliminate an entire forest!  A new Petition was recently created to stop the destruction of the 947 trees at Graham Woods, which includes 67 huge heritage trees and endangered plants.

Please sign and share the Petition to Save Graham Woods, and note that there are several opportunities to comment on the Project this week, including Tuesday (3/3/26) at 2pm at the Land Use and Facilities Planning Committee meeting, and Thursday (3/5/26) at 9am at the Lakes Vegetation and Landscaping Committee meeting.  An investigative article was also recently published which exposed the ways the public is being stifled from commenting on projects like these, so please check that out too, and help advocate for better transparency at UF!

Thanks for your support of workers, shade, and the environment!
