Keep Fran in Ireland

The Issue

Francisca Sotomayor is a Chilean 23 year old artist living in Dublin for 9 years. Fran attended secondary school and college in Dublin, and is a member of the local arts and music industry. Fran's family moved back to Chile when she was 18 (2018) and she has been independently living on her own since.

As of this week (August 2023) Fran has been faced with a devastating burden upon receiving a proposal letter from the Minister of Justice stating that she should make a decision to either remain in Ireland and face a deportation order made against her or to 'leave the state voluntarily'. As of this moment in time Fran has had no intentions of moving away from Ireland as her career, friendships, communities and life are all what makes her consider Ireland 'home'. Uprooting her entire life in Dublin is simply not an option for her.

Fran has a limited amount of time and resources in order to deal with this proposal from the minister and to issue her response as to what action she will take. In order for her to be able to remain in the state Fran has the option to appeal to her denied application (which has been in process for almost two years now), and supporting documentation must be provided highlighting reasons as to why Fran is a valued member of Irish society.

We are creating this petition in support of Fran to show the Minister that this decision would be a mistake on their behalf, and would put Fran's wellbeing, career, relationships and life at stake. Any and all support is appreciated. The main source of support that Frans needs for her appeal is personal letters, outlining your own stories as to why Fran should be allowed to stay. These letters can be submitted directly to Fran via email which is vaticanjailcity@gmail.com. Alternatively you can use a template letter that we can provide for you, to be requested via email. Thank you for your support.
