Keep Fire Station 28 Open in Oakland, California

The Issue

Fire Station 28, an essential lifesaving resource in Oakland’s Grass Valley neighborhood, is facing temporary closure for six months due to city budget constraints.

This fire station provides crucial protection to our community, notably because we live in a highly forested area that's perennially at risk of destructive fires. Furthermore, our community is filled with vulnerable populations like senior citizens and children attending local schools/childcare centers. These groups are particularly dependent on the swift response times a local fire station like Fire Station 28 offers.

We therefore urge the City of Oakland to prioritize public safety and reconsider their decision to close Fire Station 28. Every signature on this petition compounds our collective voice, let's make sure it is heard. Sign now to keep Fire Station 28 operational.

In addition to signing the petition, pls visit https://firesafeoakland.com/take-action/ to write to Oakland City Council Members and support Oakland Fire Department.

** Special Thank you to community Member , Sandra (Sandy) Porter, who initially notified  the neighborhood and  reached out to city council in hopes to keep our local fire stations operational
