As a current Level One nursing student approaching the end of the semester, I know firsthand how demanding and rigorous the Associate Degree of Nursing program can be. It requires not only academic dedication but also an understanding of various aspects such as Castle Branch requirements, introduction to infection control, HIPAA and OSHA guidelines, proper time management based on the upcoming semester schedule, and extracurricular opportunities like AHEC Scholars and the Student Nurses Association. These elements set the tone for understanding expectations, mentally preparing for the next two years, and participation in student programs that give back to our community. 

However, the incoming Level One class for Spring 2024 is currently not scheduling a separate orientation day. Instead, they are expected to learn these vital components online and during regular class hours which detracts from the primary focus - learning. Face-to-face orientation allows for thorough communication, building relationships, and getting immediate feedback. 

We believe that implementing an extensive orientation will provide Level One students with a solid foundation upon which they can build their future careers. We urge Victoria College educational authorities to recognize this need and take action.
