Hello Everyone!

At tonight's Naperville City Council Meeting, nearly two dozen people either spoke or left written comments opposed to the closing of the Edward-Elmhurst Fitness Center.  Additionally, three councilmembers expressed their frustration with the the poor handling of the closing of EHFC. Comments from the speakers and councilmembers indicated a representative from the company was there, but I don't know who that was.

Leadership of the hospital group have offered to meet with me, tentatively next week, to discuss the situation. I will be bringing representatives of the affected member groups to provide well-rounded viewpoints and provide an opportunity for Northshore to engage constructively with the community.

Based on those initial conversations with a company representative, we are still quite a ways apart on an agreement.  However, the passion of the speakers has inspired me even more to press on.

I encourage you to watch the recording of the council meeting and witness the passion.

We are at 2,440 signatures.  60 more and the petition will receive additional exposures., so please, if you can, redouble efforts to share the petition.

Over the remainder of the week, NC17 will be interviewing a member of EHFC for whom the center as been a very positive force in her life, as well as myself.

Lastly, if you have a moment, please take a moment to read Northshore's mission statement, core values, and strategic plan  and see if you think the closing of the EHFC and the way it was handled is aligned with those values.  And if you conclude they do not, how does that affect the credibility of the company to you and whether you would choose them for your health needs?

Thank you again everyone!  I will keep you posted on progress.

Press on!

- Steve
