Final Petition Submission Update Before May 6 Deadline
Thank you so much to everyone who has signed, shared, commented, emailed and supported this petition.
As the public comment period closes tomorrow, May 6, we wanted to provide a brief update.
The updated petition list has now been submitted to key decision-makers, including the provincial Ministers, MLA Dana Lajeunesse, CRD Director Al Wickheim, and through the Crown land application comment portal.
The petition now has 8,789 signatures overall. For the formal submission, we provided a BC-only list of 5,001 applicable signatories, with the names submitted in opposition to Crown land applications 1415404, 1415403, and 1415322.
In each submission, we asked decision-makers to oppose the applications and to consider the long-term protection of this parcel as part of East Sooke Park.
We do not have any major new updates to share yet, but we wanted supporters to know that your names have been submitted, your opposition has been formally documented, and your support has helped make the level of public concern clear.
The most important thing people can still do before the deadline is submit individual comments on each of the three application links and email decision-makers directly. The links and contact information are included on the main petition page for anyone who still needs them. Individual submissions are extremely important, and they carry weight beyond the petition itself.
Thank you again to everyone who has taken the time to sign, share, write, comment, and encourage others to pay attention to this issue. We are deeply grateful for the care people have shown for East Sooke Park and the surrounding landscape.
We are hoping for the very best and will share another update when more information becomes available.
