The Issue

Edit* if Alberta decides to stop changing their clocks twice a year, then we should stay with Alberta time rather than pacific time Vancouver. this is to remain on Mountain time. The East Kootenay region holds a special bond with our neighbors in Alberta, sharing close personal and economic ties. As a resident here, I've witnessed how thousands within our community benefit from remaining on Mountain Time, aligning us with Alberta rather than Vancouver. For many, it’s not just a preference; it’s a matter of convenience and connection and career.

The daily rhythm of our lives synchronizes with Alberta’s time zone. From business operations to social interactions, education schedules, healthcare appointments, and other necessities, we function seamlessly when we match our clocks with Alberta. This synergy is crucial for our economy and societal well-being.

East Kootenay's economy thrives in tandem with Alberta's. A shared time zone facilitates smoother business transactions and communication, boosting local businesses and contributing significantly to our regional economy. Many residents commute between the borders for work, and a shared time zone reduces confusion and enhances productivity.

Conversely, aligning with Vancouver’s time zone presents challenges, such as disrupting established routines and complicating cross-border interactions. For those of us whose lives are closely tied to Alberta's, switching time zones can lead to unnecessary stress and inefficiencies.

Let us cherish our unique ties with Alberta and preserve our quality of life by staying on Mountain Time. It's not just about timekeeping—it's about maintaining our way of life.

Please join me in urging our local leaders to consider the tangible benefits of aligning our time with Alberta over Vancouver. Sign this petition to keep East Kootenay on Mountain Time, ensuring our community remains both convenient and connected. Would like to include East Kootenay MLA Pete Davis in this petition
