Title: Restore and Maintain Lights at Deception Bay Skatepark

Petition Description:

We're calling on the local council to take urgent and permanent action to fix and maintain the lights at the Deception Bay Skatepark, and to ensure they operate daily from 5:30 PM to 11:00 PM (17:30–23:00).

The Deception Bay skatepark is more than just a place to ride—it's the heart of a thriving, positive community. It's where kids, teens, and adults alike come together, support one another, and grow through shared passion and respect. Over time, we’ve built a welcoming and encouraging environment that helps keep youth active, social, and out of trouble.

But without proper lighting, this vital community space becomes unsafe and unusable at night. As a result, we've seen fewer people using the park in the evenings and a greater risk of vandalism and anti-social behavior. The absence of lighting directly threatens the community we’ve worked so hard to build.

We are asking the council to:

Permanently fix the lighting at the skatepark.
Schedule the lights to turn on from 5:30 PM to 11:00 PM every day.
This simple action will:

Improve safety and visibility.
Support a positive and active youth culture.
Reduce the risk of vandalism.
Keep the community strong and engaged.
