After 27 years, our room is being stripped away and taken from us. D102 has been an important part of our program and an impact on all of our lives. Dating all the way back to 1999, students in the “Digital Film program/Bulletin” have thrived in this classroom, which was built just for them. It is not only a classroom which we fulfill our dreams and education but, so many students have gained memories, friends, relationships, and experiences here.
Not only that but careers within the film industry have developed. Students who’ve taken this class has had their love and education for film grow. Most grow into big names, and begin working with big companies. Over 250 students who’ve taken this class have been successful in the film industry.
Even years, even decades, after graduating high school, students from this 27 year long legacy return to the room often to visit Mr. Cataldo and check up on how the room has evolved, as new students come in and leave their mark on it.
Administration is adamant about their decision and, despite our efforts, is refusing to compromise. Without this room, our ability to function as a class and program is more than halved, crushing the dreams, memories, and creativity of all of those affected. Our storage space would be significantly smaller, they would be moving us into a smaller than average classroom. Work would be unmanageable within the small space given. Equipment like cameras, lighting, tripods, etc, would be at tremendous risk. Bulletins each morning, that students love and get their information from, would have to be put to a stop, due to the unmanageable workspace.
D102 has created such a huge impact for us students, and is so influential towards us all. We’re able to ways to express our feelings and emotion through film, and feed our passion. Creativity has sprouted and grown from the insides of this building, and opened up to the world. We plead and beg of you to not take away the second home that we love, and help by signing this petition.
