Keep common sense and Mrs. Graff in our classroom
Keep common sense and Mrs. Graff in our classroom
The Issue
Mrs. Graff has been an outstanding teacher at Bennett Elementary School in Manassas, VA for the past 9 years. She is an educator of children's hearts and minds, who, without question, has dedicated herself to helping children realize and achieve their full potential. Her loving, supportive and academically rigorous environment reaches above and beyond standard classroom work and children are flourishing and growing under her guidance every day.
Classroom teachers, encore teachers, support staff and school-based administrators all deserve to be supported unconditionally by the parents and administration of the Prince William County School District. They should be able to work in an environment that is free from bullying and harassment. We expect this for our children, so it is only right that we demand the same for our teachers.
No one, especially the teachers who work so tirelessly for the good of our children, should have to endure a hostile or disrespectful work environment. If Prince William County School District does not currently have a policy that protects its staff and teachers from bullying, it should enact one immediately.
We believe that Mrs. Graff's absence from the class is having a negative impact on the well being of our children, both educationally and emotionally. They have bonded with her, and this disruption is very upsetting to most, if not all, of them.
We, the undersigned, support Mrs. Graff completely, and we strongly urge the school to take steps to protect her from any further harassment, so as to ensure her immediate return to the classroom.
