We, the citizens of Collier County, are adamantly against Chris Hall’s recommendation to make Domestic Animal Services on Davis Blvd a kill shelter. We are appalled a suggestion of this sort has been made by an elected official. He may try to say his statement “there’s no returning back to a no-kill policy” shows that he doesn’t want a kill policy. But he negated it by stating DAS should not accept pit/pit mixes because they are unadoptable. A shelter cannot be considered no-kill if it is leaving a large population of dogs outside their gates. We also seek his removal as County Commissioner as he DOES NOT represent our County in the appropriate manner! Understand that all lives MATTER, including ANIMALS, and the fact that he even put this out there to be “thought about” is ludicrous and unacceptable. 

I am sure many of you have had family pets growing up that you remember and they made an impact on your life, you look back and can't imagine your childhood without that pet. Now, I am sure many of you have pets. Imagine if you never got the chance to adopt your pet ? Can you imagine a life without your pet? EVERY animal deserves a chance to be relocated to a HOME. Just as every child in the system deserves a chance to be adopted into a HOME.

 We can work together as a community to keep this shelter a no kill shelter, as well as volunteer and donate to this shelter to help these animals out.
