We must keep this vital Colchester High Street store open! Colchester town centre is a vibrant place for people to shop and experience our rich Roman history. Without this busy and popular Marks and Spencer store the rest of the town will suffer badly. This decision by M&S has not been made in the interest of customers but only in the interest of larger profits. It's damaging to the environment, with more people having longer car journeys. Lots of people will not be able to travel on buses or walk into town to shop. Stane Retail Park is not central to many areas of Colchester and surrounding villages. Journey times could potentially take up to 40 minutes or more.

If they needed to expand they should have moved into the old Debenhams store which could have been a flagship M&S in our town!

Sign this petition to persuade M&S to reverse their decision to close this store. 

Also sign this petition if you want Colchester Borough Council to work with M&S to persuade them to stay in the town. Lowering rates, reducing car parking costs are just two simple measures the Council could do to keep our town cente alive.
