Keep Coach Tribble as Our Head Coach

The Issue

Words alone cannot show nor explain the ways that Coach Tribble has affected us, he is the most inspiring coach that I and many others have ever had. He has shown us what absolute drive can do to you and that you can always give a little bit more in not only running but in our lives.

Coach Tribble has been apart of Westminster since he joined in 1984. This year he was recognized by the Atlanta Track Club for his 30th cross country state title in 40 years at Westminster. That makes him the winningest high school boys cross-country coach in American history. It is without a doubt that the program would take a hit without him, but more importantly the athletes he trains with every single day will take the greatest hit. Alumni of Coach Tribble have gone on runs with him during the offseason, gotten lunch, or even sat down to play games of chess. He is not only our coach he is a mentor and someone that we can share with and very clearly care about us as people.

Tribble’s character and wealth of knowledge have become the bedrock of our highly successful team and its culture of camaraderie and athletic excellence. Simply put, Tribble embodies the spirit of the sport, the team, and the school, ensuring that every runner grows to become stronger and faster, a better leader, and loves this sport. The Westminster motto, “And Jesus increased in wisdom, stature, and in favor with God and man (Luke 2:52)”, is demonstrated by Coach Tribble every day. We do not know what the future holds for him at this school. We do know that Westminster has a special cross-country coach, one of the greatest of all time, where are we going to go without him.

We ask, if you have been an athlete for Coach Tribble or if you know him and have found him to be inspiring or has had an impact on your life to sign and if you feel inclined to write a sentence or two or ten about what he means to you and why Westminster should rethink this hasty decision of firing Coach Tribble.
