The Issue

Centennial School has been a cornerstone of our community for many years, a place where students are not only educated but are also nurtured to become responsible and kind citizens. As a graduate of Centennial myself, I have witnessed first-hand the extraordinary impact this institution has had on countless lives, including my own. The unique Discovery program at Centennial is an integral part of this impact. It does more than teach—it instills values that prepare students for life beyond the classroom.

The heart of Centennial School is its history and the community it has built over the decades. We have passionately fought to keep this institution up and running because we understand its immense value. The Discovery program exemplifies the essence of Centennial, offering a curriculum that truly shapes the future generation. It teaches students life skills, empathy, and civic responsibility—qualities we desperately need more of in today's world.

However, Centennial is under threat. The closure of our beloved school and the potential discontinuation of the Discovery program would be a devastating loss, not only for current and future students but for the community as a whole. Schools like Centennial are rare, providing a unique learning environment that cannot be easily replicated.

Keeping Centennial open is not just about preserving a building and a program; it is about preserving a legacy of excellence, community spirit, and educational innovation. The Discovery program must continue to thrive, offering students a foundation in both academics and moral character.

We need your help to ensure that Centennial School remains a vibrant educational institution, allowing countless more students to benefit from its remarkable programs. Together, we can make a difference—let's keep this beacon of learning shining brightly.

I invite you to support us in this critical time by signing this petition. Let us send a profound message to the decision-makers: Centennial School and its Discovery program are invaluable, and they must be preserved for the generations to come.

“Hello, Thank you for sharing this petition with me. The Board of Education, that I am part of, is the deciding body on the proposed recommendation for school closure and consolidation. In the proposal, there is a recommendation to consolidate Centennial and Poudre Community Academy into one alternative high school. Consolidation would require the two schools to come under one roof and design what comes next for alternative education in our community. No decision has been made, and if a decision is made to move forward with the recommendation, at that time I would encourage folks to share what made the difference to find success for their academic and personal journey. Appreciatively, Jessica Zamora Poudre School District Board of Education jzamora@psdschools.org [Note: The Change.org Civic Engagement Team reaches out to decision makers to let them know about petitions in their community and to help facilitate engagement with supporters.
