The Issue

My mother and uncle shared so many delightful moments with my grandfather at the Gurnee Great America. These experiences became wonderful memories for them, and my mom, in turn, created similar cherished memories with me. I cannot imagine a future where I cannot share those same joyful experiences with my own children, where our beautiful tradition comes to an end. This is why I feel deeply that the residents of Santa Clara, as well as visitors from all around, should also have the opportunity to enjoy the joys of California's Great America for generations to come.

California’s Great America in Santa Clara is not merely an amusement park; it is a cherished historic community venue that has provided generations of families with countless memories and bonding experiences. The park is a significant part of the local culture and heritage, bringing together people of all age groups and backgrounds in a joyful and thrilling environment. Its closure would mean losing a vibrant hub of fun, adventure, and cherished traditions for countless families.

The social and economic benefits that California's Great America brings to Santa Clara are too essential to overlook. It not only provides employment to hundreds of locals but also boosts tourism in the area, supporting local businesses and enhancing economic development. In 2019 alone, the park attracted over 2.6 million visitors, significantly contributing to local revenue.

Instead of closing its doors, let's focus on innovative solutions to keep the park operational. Initiatives like modernizing park facilities, bringing back the Holiday Events or engaging with local community groups for partnerships can not only keep the park financially viable but enhance its value to the community. Collaborative efforts with private investors, getting input from loyal park-goers, and launching fundraising campaigns are some concrete steps we can start with to ensure the park remains an enduring part of Santa Clara's community.

Join us in this effort to preserve and protect California's Great America, ensuring it remains a beacon of joy and togetherness for families far and wide, now and forever. Sign this petition and be a part of keeping this treasured park open for our children and many more after them to experience and enjoy the magic we’ve cherished so dearly. Let's come together and save our park!
