Since 2024, our community has been fortunate to have an exceptional mail carrier who goes above and beyond his duties. Every day, Brendan not only delivers mail and packages but also spreads joy and warmth with his friendly demeanor. He is an integral part of our neighborhood, and his presence has become a cherished fixture in all of our daily lives, including those of our dogs.

Brenden's route 20 is currently planned to be eliminated and combined with neighboring routes in the coming weeks. Because of this, our beloved mail carrier will be reassigned to another route. This news has saddened many of us as it is a loss that goes beyond just mail delivery. Over the years, he has developed personal connections with each household, always having a genuine smile and a kind word for everyone. He has become more than just a mail carrier; he is a friend and a valued member of our community.

We believe that maintaining consistent routes for mail carriers helps foster stronger community relations and improves postal service efficiency. Reassigning a mail carrier who has built trust and rapport with residents disrupts that relationship and affects the quality of service our neighborhood has come to appreciate. Brendan understands the intricacies and details of our buildings and mail rooms, which provides an extra level of safety in our neighborhood. He alerts property managers of unstable locks or secure doors, and helps prevent mail and package theft. In addition, this change will increase the workload of the new mail carrier significantly and it will negatively impact our service.

Positive social interactions, such as those fostered by our mail carrier's presence, significantly contribute to the well-being and happiness of individuals and pets in the community. Losing a person who contributes so positively to our community would be a great disservice to everyone who looks forward to his visits. Mail carriers like him are rare and invaluable. They form a bond with the people they serve, understand our neighborhood and bring a sense of community that cannot be easily replaced.

We urge the postal service management to reconsider any plans to reassign our valued mail carrier, Brendan Covieo. Doing so would not only preserve the quality of service we've come to appreciate but also maintain the joy, trust and connection that Brendan brings to the community.

On a personal level, our dog, George, looks forward to Brendan's daily visits and is overcome with joy whenever he hears his mail cart approaching. In addition to the daily interactions, Brendan consistently ensures our packages and mail are delivered safely and reliably. In fact, on Brendan's days out of the office, we receive very little, if any, mail at all. When Brendan is on duty, I have confidence that a birthday gift or holiday gift will make it safely.
