The Issue
Yesterday, on May 1st, we received disheartening news from Meath County Council. After numerous discussions with both parties involved, which have been relentless over the past five or six weeks and continue since 2022, we have been informed of a looming planning 'issue' on site. This has led to a formal advisement NOT to reopen Boyne Valley Activities and Boyneista Coffee Dock from May 1st, 2026. We are dismayed and refuse to accept this decision.
Boyne Valley Activities has been a cherished part of the Trim community, providing unparalleled outdoor experiences to locals and visitors alike. It has served as a cornerstone for local tourism and recreation, creating countless memories for families and adventurers over the years. So, why is this issue arising now, when it was deemed acceptable when we first opened?
The potential closure of Boyne Valley Activities poses a significant threat not only to the vibrant tourism sector in Trim but also to the livelihoods of staff members who rely on their roles. Furthermore, it curtails the opportunities for community engagement and development through outdoor activities that have proven invaluable for well-being and social connections.
We believe that there are feasible solutions to this planning 'issue.' We urge the Meath County Council to work collaboratively with us to find a resolution that benefits all stakeholders and maintains the integrity and availability of these beloved activities. Addressing and overcoming any planning concerns should be a priority, ensuring that Boyne Valley Activities can continue to operate and contribute positively to the community.
If you value Boyne Valley Activities and want to see it remain open and thriving, please sign this petition. Let us stand together for the future of Trim’s tourism and community spirit. Your support can make a difference.
