Keep Bordon Garrison Pre-school & Creche open and offer alternative building to meet needs

Keep Bordon Garrison Pre-school & Creche open and offer alternative building to meet needs
The Issue
For over thirty years, Bordon Garrison Pre-school & Creche has been a cornerstone of our community in Bordon, providing a dedicated and welcoming environment for families. Since 1990, this nursery has occupied its current building, offering a nurturing space where children can grow, learn, and prepare for their future educational journeys. For parents like myself, who have watched their children flourish in this environment, this nursery is invaluable.
My little boy has been attending Bordon Garrison for the past three years. The staff here not only meet his needs but do so with care and dedication making it an essential part of our lives. The nursery's ability to provide affordable, term-time childcare means it serves as an essential service for local families, fostering a sense of community and support that is hard to replace.
Recently, we've been faced with distressing news. Whitehill and Bordon Regeneration Company (WBRC) has refused to renew the nursery's lease due to development plans, threatening to uproot this vital institution from our community. This decision puts at risk not only the continuity and stability of the children currently enrolled but also the prospective families who depend on these services. It’s has been advised there is no prospect of extending the lease further, because of the state of the old building which I am told is dilapidating to a point of no longer being suitable as a child care setting. If the above is true in terms of the state of the building then I believe that there MUST be a replacement facility provided ASAP and that DIO/WBRC should publish their intentions surrounding this as a matter of urgency.
Statistics show that communities with accessible childcare facilities enable parents, especially mothers, to participate more fully in the workforce, boost local economies, and improve family well-being. Closing the Bordon Garrison Pre-school will have significant ripple effects, potentially hiking childcare costs and creating a childcare shortage in the area.
We urge Whitehill and Bordon Regeneration Company to reconsider their decision and provide an alternative location so the nursery setting can remain.
Let's come together to protect this invaluable resource for our children and our community. Please sign this petition to show your support for keeping Bordon Garrison Pre-school & Creche open.
