The Fairmont City Council voted not to close Benoni Avenue, so it will reopen to traffic once the WVDOT completes it's work in the area. Thanks to everyone who signed the petition, and supported the effort by attending the Council meeting and speaking, and to the members of the City Council who listened to our concerns. This is a great example of citizens and government working together for the common good of their community. I hope we can also work with the folks who would like to have a greenway, and create a wonderful all season park in the heart of Fairmont. A place where people of all abilities and ages can enjoy activities such as hiking, biking, skate boarding, horse shoes, bocce ball, barbeques & picnics, or just enjoy the fresh air and sunshine in our beautiful Friendly City. In unity we can achieve our dreams, so let us dream big!
