The Issue

October 7, 2025, is a day that forever changed my life. My beloved son was tragically taken from me in a horrific mass shooting that occurred inside a local bar, mere feet away from several government buildings, where safety measures should have been at their highest. This avoidable and heinous act not only stole a bright future from my child but also shattered our family, leaving an irreplaceable void.

During this terrible event, an individual, shockingly, was allowed to enter the establishment with a firearm, which questions the security protocols at that time. This oversight resulted in the loss of innocent lives—a reality I wouldn’t wish upon any other family. In light of this tragedy, keeping the bar closed is not just a personal plea but a public safety issue.

The community and local authorities need to consider the implications of allowing this establishment to reopen without re-evaluating their security measures. It is a matter of ensuring no other parent, sibling, or friend ever has to endure the indescribable pain and suffering that I, and others like me, have been subjected to due to negligence.

Reopening the bar without substantial changes and a commitment to safety is not just insensitive, but it also disregards the lives lost, including my son's. The victimization should not continue by allowing an environment that couldn’t protect its patrons—including my son—to operate as if nothing happened.

I urge the local council, community leaders, and regulatory bodies to listen to the voices of those affected and prioritize the safety of the public over business operations. Prevent this tragedy from repeating by ensuring that no establishment without rigorous security plans can reopen, especially so close to government facilities where one would expect stringent safety precautions.

Please stand with me against the reopening of this bar until there are proven measures in place to protect our community. Sign this petition to honor the victims and to ensure that their loss was not in vain. Your signature is a stand for justice, safety, and respect for those we lost.
