Asante Ashland Community Hospital has been a cornerstone of our community since its inception in 1907. This treasured establishment has not only provided essential healthcare services to our local community but also extended its lifeline to coastal communities, rural Northern California, and beyond. More than 200 employees depend on this hospital for their livelihood, and their families are entwined with ours, contributing to the fabric of our society.

Currently, there is a looming threat to close the birth center and inpatient services of the Asante Ashland Community Hospital. This would not only disrupt the essential services that thousands of individuals rely on but also displace the dreams and hopes of many families who have trusted this institution during their most vulnerable times. The birth center, in particular, symbolizes new beginnings and life — a service that is irreplaceable and foundational to any thriving community.

Statistically, community hospitals like ours play a critical role in not only providing vital healthcare services but also in boosting the local economy. According to the American Hospital Association, rural and community hospitals support roughly 14% of the nation's GDP and employ over 6 million people. The closure of these services could lead to increased travel times for pregnant women and those in need of inpatient care, potentially resulting in adverse health outcomes.

Instead of dismantling this essential service, we should focus on revamping and reinvesting in it. This could involve collaborating with local governments, healthcare networks, and private entities to create sustainable financial models that ensure the hospital's financial health while maintaining its invaluable services. Additionally, extending outreach programs and partnerships with surrounding rural areas could increase patient intake and revenue.

Let us come together to raise our voices against the closure of Asante Ashland Community Hospital’s birth center and inpatient services. By signing this petition, you are advocating for the preservation of essential healthcare, the security of employees, and the continuity of a legacy that has been part of our community for over a century. Stand with us in this fight to keep our hospital open and thriving for the betterment of all.

Please sign this petition to show your support and help keep the Asante Ashland Community Hospital's vital services operational.
