Keep Ai out of Cave City
The Issue
Cave city counsel is throwing around the idea of bringing in data centers. They could be viewing this as positive for the economy and it would certainly help some sides of the coin.
Data centers use a lot of resources like electricity and water. And even if they have gotten better and more advanced over time, they still damage local residents. A data center will alter prices for resources like electricity and water. They say that the process has gotten better and wouldn’t be as much of a strain.
Let’s take a look at the Lake Tahoe region. They now have to figure out how to completely start from the bottom for their power grid. NV energy has decided to leave behind the average consumer to accompany data center power usage. 50,000 residents are affected by this move.
They still have the grid but the grid is owned by NV energy. Every idea and movement to reestablish their energy provider has to be careful and well planned. And no matter what the prices they’d pay when the issue is resolved will still be greater than what they’re used to.
And do you think our local energy providers would prefer us over a higher paying data center. Look at it from a business perspective and it’s just too simple not to. A higher paying consumer would sway a power company over the average consumer any day. All we are is a dollar to major companies.
I urge you to do your own research. But I promise you a data center is not right for cave city Kentucky. It will hurt us locals, our scenery, and our ecosystems. Is this what we need for our town?.
