Keep 9/11, D-Day, and Pearl Harbor in our Baltimore County Schools

Keep 9/11, D-Day, and Pearl Harbor in our Baltimore County Schools
The Issue
BCPS Policy 6304 designates 9/11 (Patriot Day), D-Day, and Pearl Harbor As official days of remembrance in our public school system. The board is currently considering the removal of this designation and will vote on it sometime in April.
This not only affects students and parents, but it is an insult to all citizens as we use these days to honor those who sacrificed And remind ourselves and teach our young about duty, honor, and sacrifice.
Within Policy 6304 there is no limit to the number of days that we use in observance as a memorial and an opportunity to teach our future generations the lessons from the past. Even if there was a limit, these three days illustrate periods of time when Americans came together as one and stood against evil, while protecting our beautiful country.
We honor those who paid the ultimate price. Who stood at terrors doorstep and didn’t back down so we can live in a better world.
This petition recognizes an heroes importance in our lives and honors the legacy of those who fought, protected, and died on 9/11, D-Day, and at Pearl Harbor.
The Baltimore County School Board needs to keep these dates alive because we will never forget and our children must always remember.
Policy 6304 will come to a vote sometime in April and we collectively stand against this DIS-HONOR.
