Remove the dangerous Covid-19 pop up cycle lanes from Ashford town centre.

The Issue

The new Covid-19 pop up cycle lanes are causing congestion and confusion all around Ashford town centre as the public have received no directive on how to use them. Why are they named Covid-19 cycle lanes? How long will the "Pop up" lanes last?

A ring road which has only just recently had major roadworks has now been altered again and the people of Ashford woke up to this overnight. Many two lane roads are now down to one and no one is even using these cycle lanes. Car drivers are just using it as a normal lane and now bollards have been put in place to block off half the road. I experienced complete gridlock and quite a few near misses on the school run tis morning. Nobody had a say or asked for this and many would like to know why money has been spent on these lanes when existing roads have numerous pot holes that need fixing.

After speaking with almost 100 people in the last 3 days, we are all in agreement that these Covid-19 pop up cycle lanes are dangerous and a waste of money. These lanes and bollards need to be removed and the roads need to be returned to how they were previously. We've all been through enough this year so let's keep each other safe.
