Change Kaysville’s city code to permit THREE dogs per residence.
Kaysville city currently has an ordinance that only permits two dogs per residence. Davis county, where Kaysville resides, permits three dogs as well as many other cities and counties in Utah. Three dogs living at one residence is not unusual. What happens when a family with three dogs moves into Kaysville? Do they have to decide which of their furry family members to send away? Are we not trying to keep our furry friends out of the animal shelters?
Unfortunately, we were not aware of the city’s ordinance and own three dogs. We have one 14 year old cockapoo mix that keeps everybody in line and doesn’t let Mom out of his sight. We have a 14 year old chihuahua mix who has claimed our oldest son his and loves to run as fast as he can just for fun. And we have a 5 year old Boston terrier pug who twirls like a ballerina when she’s ready for dinner. They all get along with each other, snuggle next to us where ever we are, and sleep in our bed every night. They are current on their shots and are all fixed. They are most definitely a part of our family.
We were recently notified we would have to find a new home for one of our furry family members or send them to the animal shelter. My heart is breaking into a million pieces at the very thought of choosing one of my dogs, who has stuck by my side through the lowest of lows, and sending them away like an old used couch.
We are calling on Kaysville city to amend the current ordinance and allow up to three dogs per residence. Please save our dogs who are living their best lives in our loving homes from the terror, stress, and anxiety they will feel if they are ripped away.
