The City of Katy is planning to apply for a TxDOT Transportation Alternatives (TA) grant to construct a hike & bike trail from the Katy Boardwalk to Town Square/City Hall.  This will connect to the Boardwalk, Katy Mills Mall, Six Katy Mills hotels, over 2000 residences, Katy Main St HEB, Mark Chapman YMCA, Woodsland Park, MKT Train Depot Museum and other spots in between.  This will leverage the Katy Mgmt Dist #1 Upper Trail around the Boardwalk as well as TxDOT's planned I-10 work which will include 10' sidewalks west of Pin Oak Blvd and a trail underpass of I-10 at the Cane Island Branch of Buffalo Bayou.  This is a highly competitive grant program and a strong showing of public support will greatly help secure funds.  Funding awards will be announced in late 2025.  A short connection in the future can connect this trail to the Willow Fork/Cinco Ranch/George Bush Park/Terry Hershey/Brays Bayou trails.  Link to Google Map showing proposed and nearby trails below.
