Dear Minister Hodgkinson

Australians love and care for their animals and expect high animal welfare standards and practices. The cruel conditions of puppy farms are well documented, including overcrowding, lack of access to veterinary treatment and unhygienic surroundings. While puppy farms continue to exist, puppies and dogs will continue to be mistreated.

I am calling on your Government to:

1. End puppy farms, backyard breeding and other intensive forms of dog breeding, through establishing a legislative framework.

2. Phase out of the sale of puppies in pet shops

3. Support the re-homing of unwanted puppies and dogs
