We strongly suggest that SMC should consider canceling finals or freezing grades. As soon as the quarantine started and things went online, people have been struggling to adjust and online learning just isn’t for everyone. This is a tough time we are living in and some professors have kept the same level of difficulty and students are struggling. On top of all this, SMC prides itself on having a diverse community, and right now that community is struggling. They are at war. We are at war. So many of SMC’s students are either protesting or scared for their lives. They are fighting for change, for something bigger than themselves. The community showed up but this isn’t going to end soon from the looks of it. How can you expect your students to focus on finals when they are fighting for equality, something bigger than just one person. Stand by your students by at least considering this because I’d much rather be protesting peacefully rather than studying for finals while people are fighting for equality.
