TVO has announced the decommissioning of eight over-the-air (OTA) transmitters, meaning Ontarian taxpayers in Belleville, Chatham, Cloyne, Kitchener, London, Ottawa, Thunder Bay and Windsor will no longer have access to the network without a cable or satellite TV subscription, or without streaming TVO on a computer, as of July 31, 2017. 

TVO says it is "Ontario's partner for digital education and as the public space for Ontario-perspective current affairs." As more and more people disconnect from traditional television services, TVO should be investing in OTA services, not deleting them. Furthermore, removing OTA services from all regions except Toronto will have a disproportionate impact on people with low income, who may be unable to afford cable or satellite television or even high-speed internet. 

TVO must rescind this decision.
