Justice for Alex the Pekingese

Justice for Alex the Pekingese
The Issue
In March 2015, A yellow/white male pekingese was found shot to death inside a cardboard box in a field off Route 981 in Derry Township, PA, Someone took it out into the woods and shot it through the box,” hitting the dog in the head,
It is apparent the dog was well cared for and likely was a family pet, The dog, who has been given the name Alex, which weighed about 10 pounds and was not neutered, was not malnourished; nor was its fur matted, he was in good shape & there was no signs of abuse.
There was a lead on social media of someone that professed to shooting Alex because he kept getting into his trash, this person also admitted to hitting another dog and upon returning home to see damage to his car got his revolver and went back to the area and shot the dog dead. The Westmoreland Humane Society turned the case over to the state police. Evidence and documentation from the alleged persons page were given to the both organizations who determined that it was not enough evidence to charge and that the timelines don't match - even though the shootings occurred in March and the suspect openly admitted this to co-workers and on social media.. Inquiries into the progress of this case go no where as the Westmoreland Humane Society is not forthcoming with information and very defensive. This petition will keep the spotlight on these organizations and force them to take actions. The killing of an animal is a second-degree misdemeanor in Pennsylvania. There is a proven link between violence against animals and violence against people. The laws need to hold this person accountable for their action, it may save someone in the future. The more we bring these abusers to justice the more impact we can have on the amount of abuse (Human and Animal) that goes on.
It's not just a DOG - its a living, breathing, feeling, part of society! Killing an animal is a gateway to other bad behaviors.
