Consider alternate plans for city parking garage
This petition made change with 593 supporters!
Saratoga City Center is planning a 511 space, five level parking garage that will be erected where the current municipal parking lot outside of City Center now stands. The citizens of Saratoga oppose this plan, as it is not good for the future of the city and the residents of Saratoga want and deserve a better plan.
The current plan is inconsistent with the comprehensive plan adopted by the city. It creates a dead zone on Maple Avenue and towers over High Rock Park, a Historic City Landmark, casting shadow and creating safety concerns while cutting off the park from the rest of the city and tourists. This plan will put Mouzon House, a successful family owned restaurant, out of business.
We want the City Center to consider alternative parking plans that would benefit the residents, keep our parks safe, our streets safe and walkable, and that will honor our history while insuring well planned development for our future. We don’t want quick fixes that will hinder the future growth of our city.
Please listen to the people that have signed petitions and spoken out in City Council and Planning board meetings, and acknowledge that the reason that Saratoga Springs is a successful destination is because our streets and parks are safe, open, and walkable and our architecture and history is rich. Poor planning will only erode this sense of place and history within our city.
Please add your name to the list of Saratoga citizens who want to explore other parking options.
