Karnataka State Government, Department of Medical Education: Please allow students of non-Karnataka origin who have passed MBBS and BDS from Karnataka to appear in Karnataka state PG entrance exam.

The Issue

Karnataka government has issued a notification on 24-12-2013 according to which the students of non-Karnataka origin who have passed MBBS/ BDS from a medical/ dental college situated in Karnataka have been made ineligible to appear in Karnataka state PG examination. This is unfair, unjust and is like playing with the future of thousands of your own students. When we joined our MBBS/ BDS course, the govt. held students like us eligible to appear in state PG exams but now all of a sudden when we are all ready to appear in the exam, we have been boycotted. Our native state doesn't allow us to appear for pg exams as we did MBBS/ BDS from Karnataka and now Karnataka state is not allowing us because we were not born here. We are left with nowhere to go.
For people like us who considered Karnataka as our second home and dedicated 4.5 years of our lives for the service of humanity with total devotion towards the patients of Karnataka, it is like taking away our fundamental right of education and equality from us on the basis of regionalism.

I, along with thousands of medical and dental graduates, want the govt. to revoke this order.
We request the govt. of Karnataka to understand our situation and change eligibility rules again, back to what they were till last year.
