Justice for Maliki

Justice for Maliki
The Issue
A dog named Maliki was found mutilated in Jefferson, WV. The dog was found whimpering, by its owners who said Maliki's two front legs were severed off on Tuesday, June 2nd. Kanawha Sgt. Brian Humphreys said police have determined after examinations of the dog that his front two legs were severed by a cutting instrument. He said the possibilities that the dog’s legs were severed by a train or farm equipment have been ruled out. Days later one of the dog's paws was found laying on the train tracks nearby. Police then retracted what they originally stated and deemed the incident as an "accident." However, as originally stated veterinarians ruled out the possibility of a train accident; furthermore, because there was no blood trail found anywhere near the residence or train tracks. It is clear that this tragedy was maliciously performed at the hands of an individual(s) and someone, somewhere needs to be held accountable.
The Humane Society of the United States is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the "horrific mutilation." Additionally, two WV residents have agreed to match the Humane Society's offer, totaling the reward to $15,000. Please sign this petition and urge the police to continue investigation. We are Maliki's voice and his life shall not go unnoticed. Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office at 304-357-0169 or online at www.kanawhasheriff.us.
