Cancer Coalition Philippines joins the rest of the health care advocates in lauding the 17th Congress for approving the reconciled version of the Universal Health Care (UHC) bill.
As a national network of cancer patient support organizations, health care providers, cancer advocates, and champions, the Coalition strongly believe that this is a big step to a more inclusive health care system, as the bill seeks to automatically enroll all Filipinos in the proposed National Health Insurance Program.
If signed into law, Filipinos would get "immediate eligibility" for and access to different health care services, which is critical in preventing NCDs, including cancer.
Thus, as we congratulate the members of the BiCameral Committee for their tireless work in ensuring the passage of this act, we pray that the President will sign this into law without delay.
