On February 11, 2026, CriticalEDH announced a ban of Kai / Fervent Alchemist from their league and shared their decision on X: https://x.com/CriticalEDH/status/2021746249515647140?s=20

Following this, EDHTop16 issued an 18‑month “Cheater” designation on his profile: https://edhtop16.com/

This action stems from an incident during the Royal Rumble 2 cEDH Tournament on January 24, 2026.  The concerns raised were evaluated by a judge at the time of the event, and Kai was not disqualified. The current ban was issued over two weeks later by individuals who were not present at the tournament.

While competitive events require professionalism, accurate gameplay, and emotional composure, mistakes do happen—especially in a complex format like cEDH. It is important to distinguish genuine malicious intent from honest errors. Those who regularly play high‑level events can usually identify true bad actors, and Kai is simply not one of them.

Kai has been a positive and integral member of the Northeast cEDH community (Greater Philadelphia Area). Many of us, myself included, have played alongside him at numerous events and have consistently seen him conduct himself with fairness, respect, and integrity. The narrative presented does not match the character or behavior he has demonstrated within our community.

Everyone misplays or experiences stressful moments, but a single mistake should not define a player’s reputation—nor should it be grounds for branding someone a “cheater,” especially when the original event judge did not issue such a ruling. If a retroactive complaint can result in such severe consequences for a player like Kai, it raises concerns for all competitors.

Our community includes difficult personalities, but it also thrives because of players who build others up, create welcoming environments, and invest in growing the format. Kai is one of those people, which is why this situation is so troubling and why many of us feel compelled to speak up.

We respectfully ask for support in advocating for fairness, context, and due consideration in reviewing this decision.
