The Issue
Players accross 100 servers participated in events for 25 days and competed for prizes which included "Dragon Treasure and Smaug Gold." the object of the event was to collect these items by participating in multiple alliance based and individual player competitions to be accumulated and tallied at the end of the 25 day event to determine the winners of the event series.
the terms of the event stated that at the end of the event series exchanges would be made avalible so players could trade in their earned Dragon treasure and Smaug Gold, which have no in game function, for functional items that would benefit the player experience.
a summary of the description of event terms and prizes was sent to players in-app and posted in detail on the events and contests section of the kabam community forums. the terms and prize descriptions were very vague and did not disclose a predetermined value of the Dragon Gold and Smaug Treasure items.
players competed in events which consumed a large amount of multiple in-game items which hold monetary value in the sense that they are aquired in exchange for the virtual currency "Mithril" that Kabam sells on the Itunes and Google Play online stores.
players participated and competed in the event series in faith and under the speculative assumption that the in-game value of the rewards would be equal to or succeed the investment of time and money spent on in game items which were a necessity. although it was not a requirement in the terms of the events, in-game items were necessary to participate in events and required in abundance to win each and every event in the event series.
after the conclusion of the 25 day event series in-game items were made avalible by kabam to exchange for the Smaug Gold and Dragon treasure that players accumulated just as stated in the terms of the event series. the value of the items chosen for exchange are of little in-game value and hold no comparison to the level of skill and monetary investment needed to aquire the gold and treasure used in the exchanges.
many players are outraged and have stated so in the in-game global chat function and also multiple posts in the kabam community forums which are being systematically removed by forum moderaters.
the purpose of this petition is for the players that participated in the event series that are unhappy with the exchange value of items that required a large monetary investment to obtain, request from kabam that they reaccess and recalculate the value of the Dragon Treasure and Smaug Gold items and offer new exchanges for top tier in-game items that reflect the amount of time invested, skill required and money spent to win these events.
Kabam should also take in to consideration that a very large amount of top-tier and very rare and expensive in-game items were necessary in abundance to win these events and the items offered for exchange should reflect the investment required to obtain and in a reasonable abundance.
this petition would also like to request from kabam that in addition to the considerations previously mentioned they provide exchanges that reflect appreciation of the consumer participation of its customers by rewarding them in being generous in the determination of the recalculated value of the Dragon Treasure and Smaug Gold by maximizing the value of the new exchangeable items that users and customers and this petition are requesting be made avalible.
players and customers who have already exchanged some or all of their obtained Dragon treasure and/or Smaug gold should also be compensated by either refunding the revalued dragon treasure and/or Smaug Gold or by providing users with top-tier in-game items that match the revalue of the dragon treasure and/or Smaug gold that they spent on the initial exchanges.
and lastly. this petition would like to request that Kabam provides compensation for the disappointment and frustration users and customers have suffered from the borderline insulting initial exchanges and devalue of the exchangeable items. all players who earned any amount of Dragon Treasure and/or Smaug Gold should be compensated with an item or items that are independant and apart from the exchange for Dragon Treasure and Smaug Gold in order to rectify this mistake and regain customer faith.
an apology and acknowledgment that the initial value of the exchanges was not only a mistake but a breach in the trust of its users and customers faith in them and their product would also be appreciated.
