As we conclude the third week of our fundraiser to Bring K9 Mattie Home, we again want to thank everyone who has already pitched in - We are grateful! We warmly invite everyone to check out our links below.

From Séamus: One of the values I learned as a soldier in the U.S. Army is that you never leave a buddy behind. Whether it's in the mountains of Afghanistan or back home, whether he is wounded or dead. Never.

I have included a beautiful story here by one of our supporters, Sandra. It answers the question, “What’s the most intellectual thing your dog has ever done?” and received more than 11,000 upvotes on Quora. It concerns her beloved dog Isaiah and his interaction with a veteran of the Vietnam War. The story demonstrates the unimaginably powerful bonds that dog handlers form with their canine partners.

Mattie was my partner, my battle buddy. She braved extremes of weather and long hours at work, and ran around the back yard and laid on the couch snuggling with my daughter at home. Work and home, work and home, year in and year out.

And when I went on military leave from Perella Weinberg's MSA Security, it was then that they unleashed their venom. They demanded I return her forever to the company the next day after I informed them of my orders. That's it, that's all; years of intense attachment, love, and loyalty flushed down the toilet.

I think of the Ranger Creed which encodes the values that combat infantrymen live and sometimes actually die by: "I will never leave a fallen comrade to fall into the hands of the enemy."
The way service dogs were treated in Vietnam was an heartbreaking tragedy, among other tragedies of that war. It is not something we can go back in time to change. But we are here, now, and we can do something to stop this tragedy now!

My family and I will fight on. We will never give up on Mattie. She is family. Perella Weinberg's MSA Security did not know what kind of strong-hearted people they were messing with when they picked this fight with us, unprovoked. I live by the words of the Creed, these are my family's values: "Readily will I display the intestinal fortitude required to fight on to the Ranger objective and complete the mission, though I be the lone survivor."

God bless America and God bless all of you K9 Mattie supporters xoxo
