STOP BALLARAT CITY COUNCIL FROM OUTSOURCING THE 'MEALS ON WHEELS' SERVICE TO DANDENONG!

The issue

After 47 years of delivering quality meals and quality jobs for the people of our beloved region, Ballarat Health Services has lost its 'Meals on Wheels' contract to a Dandenong-based company 'I Cook Catering', and this will result in a loss of Ballarat jobs and potential quality-control issues relating to the food service itself.

The Queen Elizabeth Home has a state-of-the-art facility with key infrastructure including chill-freezers and high-grade commercial cookery equipment - this came at great financial cost and (logically) must be used as the sole site for preparing meals for the 'Meals on Wheels' service.

Almost 2,000 meals are delivered weekly throughout the Ballarat region via this service.

We must send a clear message to Councillors, the General Manager for People and Communities (Neville Ivey) and the Chief Executive Officer (Justine Linley) that we support our local industries and will not stand by as our region stagnates economically as a result of this calamitous decision.

Please sign, for jobs, for the elderly, for common sense.
