The commercial seal hunt is now more than ever, a mere empty shell of what it once was -- the demand for such seal products decreasing with every passing day, and the truth of the inhumanity and brutality that go hand in hand with such an industry shining brighter in the spotlight as more individuals internationally are opening their eyes and seeing it for what it is and what it represents. But even though, international outrage and pressure from individuals and organizations are constantly flowing, the Government of Canada are still more than ever reluctant to remove their participation and involvement from this dying industry - continuously contributing financial distributions, such as subsidies, to revive, defend and promote it --- using millions of taxpayers dollars in order to keep this no longer necessary industry on life support. This involvement of the Government of Canada part makes no economic sense. Making more questions arise as to why they still play such an active role, when there is now international bans from so many countries are in place upon the imports of seal products, the almost none existent market, and the constant bad publicity and tolls that this dying industry is taking due to the global protests and voices being raised by compassionate individuals and organizations --- does this honestly make sense to you, would you still stand by such a controversial pursuit? WHY SIGNING THIS PETITION AND MAKING A STAND IS IMPERATIVE: Although we have reached a considerable amount of signatures and still growing, it is imperative to know that this petition represents so much more than just signatures of people wanting to end the Canada Commercial Seal Hunt. It is a beacon of compassionate people taking an imperative stand in helping save and protect innocent lives, and extending the branch of unity, that togetherness a difference and change can be made. It is also through this united extension that we are making it our hope and goal that through these voices, actions and bringing our efforts to Ottawa, Canada that we can touch the hearts of those of political power and influence, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Government of Canada, to finally open their eyes and rethink their stand on this dying industry and take the more compassionate and humane direction that is so desperately needed at this time. We have seen first hand what the voices and actions of the people can do when they believe enough in the power of unity and compassion, for not just some life, but for all life in need. For example the fight against the Yulin Dog Meat Festival. We have shown as a compassionate race that we will not be silenced by those who wish to silence us, or back down even though countless try to intimidate and challenge the strength in which we hold in our beliefs and efforts -- and it is that dedication and determination that will make us truly be seen and heard. It is so vital and imperative that we, as humanity, involve ourselves, not just our voices but actions as well, to keep the pressure upon the Government of Canada to rethink their involvement in this inhumane slaughter of seals.
