Thousands of cats and dogs will die this summer because rescues are not allowed to cross into Canada due to covid 19. Canada has always taken animals from high kill shelters in Texas Florida South Carolina  North Carolina.  If you look at the statistics these four states have the highest kill rates in all of the USA. Not to mention California and Utah. 

Canadian rescues have always provided a safe haven for many cats and dogs from these areas but now with the Canadian US border closed that cannot happen due to covid 19. We understand the significance of keeping people safe from Covid 19 but animals cannot transfer covid 19 to people.  The transfer of animal usually involves at the most 3 people. That in itself mitigates the chances of contacting the disease given people take precautions like mask wearing and social distancing.  

We do not want to spread the disease but we cannot allow precious lives to die because of covid 19 either. 

So please Prime minister allow rescue to cross into Canada and or rescues to cross into the states to save these precious lives. This is a humanitarian plea. Without allowing rescues to cross innocent cats and dogs will die. Please listen to this petition and grant rescue work as essential.
