Good morning all...
I've reached out a few times to the fellow managing the Point Roberts petition to see how we can join forces for a bigger voice. No word or response quite yet. Hopefully we can do something together.
In other news and views, seems the media has done a fine job of making too many people believe the moment you cross the border to the US, you hit some sort of "COVID WALL". How silly. People in BC are happily going to beaches, parks, bars and restaurants and many with little regard for social distancing, masks, etc... Yet, for us who just want to drive across the line, sort out our properties and come home, we're just too big a risk for the government to take. The border north doesn't need to be opened to US travelers heading to Canada, but the US border can certainly be opened to allow exceptions like property owners to cross and take care of business. It's now become a matter of "trust". Do the governments involved "trust" us to be sensible in our short but necessary travels? NO!!! They don't. But they do trust the "local yocals" to handle themselves here. Such BS!!!
THE ALTERNATIVE TO DRIVING ACROSS IS NUTS!!!!!
So here's what we have to do since we can't drive across. We are going to fly from Vancouver to Seattle, rent a car in Seattle and drive north to Blaine to deal with our property and close it up properly. Then drive back, return the car and once again fly home to BC. The logic in this is ridiculous in terms of comparable risk. We're going to be at far greater risk flying in and out, interacting at an international airport 4 separate times and interacting with a car rental company. Methinks a quick 40 min drive from our house to Blaine and back again is far less risky than the alternative above. Doesn't make any sense at all.
