As a Canadian veteran who served in Afghanistan in 2008, and was injured and subsequently forced to release from the Canadian Military (with no pension). I feel this latest injustice, to apologize and award Mr. Khadr with over a 10 million dollar settlement, quite insulting. Not only does his case meet the criteria of high treason as illustrated here:
"Under s46 of the Criminal Code, a person commits "high treason" who a) kills, attempts to kill, wounds, imprisons, or restrains the sovereign, b) wages war against Canada or does any act preparatory thereto, or c) assists an enemy at war with Canada or any armed force against whom Canadian forces are engaged in."

It is also a huge slap in the face to any veteran injured or otherwise, not to mention the Speer family, who have lost a father, a son and a husband as a result of Mr. Khadr's treasonous act.
