The Balisong or so called butterfly knife is not a dangerous weapon. sure it has been associated with crime or used as an intimidation weapon but you can do the same with any other knife. you should not ban a knife because it has a bad reputation and seems dangerous. Cars and automobiles are dangerous and more people die from car accidents every year yet you don't see cars and other vehicles being banned. some people would argue, you don't need a Butterfly knife, why would you need that but in a free Society the question should be why should you not have this. people who own a butterfly knife and flip often, will often cut themselves and you could say that, that it the reason that they are prohibited. just because people misuse something that cuts themselves it does not mean that you should ban it. everyone should have the freedom to do as they wish as long as it does not harm someone else. It is not right to ban something simply because it appeals to be dangerous because most people that own a butterfly knife just want to flip and have no bad intentions. I myself own a butterfly trainer and can spend hours at a time having fun, and learning new tricks. It is not fair to take away what is for most, a harmless hobby and recreational toy.
