Hello everyone, first and foremost I want to apologize for my extended silence on this platform during the previous months, I have given priority to my recovery but am coming here to you today with a tremendous update. Secondly, I'd like to say a deep and sincere thank you to everyone who signed this petition and donated to the website in order gain traction and exposure we did. Since September 2019 we have accumulated just passed 29,977 signatures on our petition. I feel as though we have generated impressive momentum, and whether it be directly be from our collected efforts or not, we now have an opportunity to make a difference through this platform. We are being presented with a REAL opportunity to make the life-saving changes to Bamfield road that were needed long ago. The Bamfield Marine Science Centre's Facebook page has shared an application led by Scott Fraser; Minister of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation to support Huu-ay-aht First Nations proposal to upgrade the Anacla/Bamfield Road. Such upgrades include: Chip sealing, with pavement in critical locations for traction and braking, road alignment improvements where possible, drainage improvements, barrier flares and railings at bridges, lighting at critical areas, barrier placement at critical locations (like steep slopes), flooding controls and debris catchment areas, reflectors and delineators. Personally I feel as if these improvements are overdue and simultaneously so very very necessary. A decision will be made by the government of BC on whether or not to fund this upgrade. The way we can make sure these life-saving upgrades DO happen is by sending our endless support to Scott Fraser and by asking the Treasury Board to fund the Bamfield Road upgrade. Email MLA Scott Fraser: scott.fraser.mla@leg.bc.ca put "FIX BAMFIELD ROAD" in the subject line and CC: to Bob Beckett: bbeckett@acrd.bc.ca and Chief Robert Dennis: robert.d@huuayaht.org
Below I will attached the further instructions on how to write the emails that WILL change this road for the better so that what happened on September 13th of 2019 does not have to happen again. Please read carefully and construct you emails to make a difference. Share as much as you can.
Thank-You again for your endless support.
-Sincerely Sarah.
