Many Canadians have recently have been victims to having personal information stolen as a result of data breaches at financial institutions (including credit card issuers). This impacts negatively on innocent consumers; loss of sleep, stress, unexpected costs, loss of credit ratings..... taking them many years to recuperate from.  We should not be victimized by the irresponsible actions of large banking institutions that collect many sums of charges from us and yet do not have secure systems in place.

Canadians should have the right to identity theft and fraud protection coverage from all financial institutions (including credit card issuers) that collect sensitive information from consumers to open accounts.

I recommend legislation be in place that forces all financial institution to automatically provide their customers identity theft and fraud protection for using their services.
