End the systematic abhorrent cruelty inflicted on innocent chickens
The Issue

End the systematic abhorrent cruelty inflicted on innocent chickens.
- These photos were taken March 2016 as a truck of chickens arrived for slaughter at Maple Leaf Poultry in Toronto.
- Several thousand chickens are crammed into every truck.
- Chickens routinely have their feet ripped off as they are pulled from trucks.
- These photos show clear violations of the Health of Animals Act which prohibits overcrowding, prohibits transporting sick or injured animals, and requires animals to be unloaded without injury.
Even without these violations, the chicken food industry is an industry which is founded on cruelty. We call on those petitioned above to:
- STOP killing over 600 million chickens each year in Canada. Over 50 billion (50,000,000,000) chickens are killed globally every year.
- STOP cramming chickens into transport trucks. Each truck contains several thousand chickens.
- STOP killing Broiler chickens in infancy at just 5 weeks old.
- STOP killing male chicks upon birth. 17 million per year in Canada alone, usually by being thrown into giant macerators.
- STOP using taxpayer dollars to subsidize these atrocities. The average Canadian is forced to spend $275 to protect the Canadian poultry and dairy industries.
You don't have to wait for the Government to intervene. You can stop these atrocities now by voting with your wallet and BOYCOTTING the animal agriculture industry. STOP supporting this cruelty.
- If you eat chicken, you are eating babies. All farmed animals are killed in infancy
- Chickens are individuals with personalities. In cognitive and behavioral tests, chickens outperform not just dogs and cats but also four-year-old humans.
